Fun With History

A friend emailed this to me yesterday. I have not looked at all of it yet because I am going to test myself to see how many people I can guess without any help.

First, go to this site, where you will see the painting above. It is a collage of many different historical figures. Hovering your mouse over the person gives you their name. Clicking on a person takes you to their Wikipedia page.

When I was a kid, my mom brought a little paperback book of the presidents into the house. It had brief biographies about all of the presidents up until Reagan (it was the 80s after all). I read that book about a thousand times by the time I was 10 years old. I credit that with sparking my love for history.

This picture is a nice little novelty. If I had kids, I would probably show them something like this. It might be nice to use in an elementary or middle school classroom, but who has time for that when there are tests to be taken?

  1. Interesting mixture. Gives you a glimpse of a totally different outlook on history and the world. It’s interesting to notice so many western influences hand-in-hand with people few westerners would even recognise.
